Q: How do I apply?

A: You need to submit two different application packages, one to the Admissions Office and one to the School of Computer Science and Engineering.

Q. What is the application deadline?

Q: I have a BS degree in another major; am I eligible to apply? What pre-requisite courses do I need to take?

A: If you have a BS degree in another major, you are still eligible to apply. In this case, you may receive a conditional admission. After you start your studies at CSUSB, you need to take the pre-requisite courses listed in the MS in Computer Science Flowchart of Coursework.

 

Q: How do I check my application status?

A: After you submit the application package, you will receive a letter from the admissions office with your student account (MyCoyote account) information. To check your application status, you need to log into the MyCoyote system with your student identification number and activation code, which are in the letter. Please check your MyCoyote account on a regular basis to see if the Graduate Admissions Office needs additional documents that are required to evaluate your application.

 

Q: What is the minimum TOEFL score for international student admission?

Q. I am an international student and I graduated from an English speaking institute, can I be exempted from the TOEFL exam?

A: Yes, holding a Bachelor degree from an English speaking institute will exempt you from TOEFL exam.

 

Q: Can I get a TOEFL waiver by taking an English class at CSUSB?

A: Yes, you can take the ESL class at CSUSB. For more details on the English program, refer to the International English Program at CSUSB.

Q: I prefer to start from English courses at your University. Do I need to have a TOEFL score at the time of application?
A: Yes. You need an acceptable TOEFL score or the successful completion of the ESL Intensive Academic Preparation Program from our University for admission to our MS program.

Q: What is the minimum GRE score required?

A: The total of the Verbal and Quantitative scores needs to be 900 in the old scoring system or 293 in the new scoring system.

Q: Can I be exempted from the GRE exam?

A: If you graduated from our program with GPA of 3.0 or above, you will be exempted from GRE exam. If your GPA is 3.5 or above and you graduated from an ABET accredited Computer Science or related program, you might be exempted from the GRE exam.

 

Q: What is the minimum GPA required?

A: The minimum GPA required is 3.0. If you have a GPA between 2.50 and 2.99, you may be admitted through meeting thresholds for combined standardized test and GPA: GPA x 350 + GRE 1950. The GRE score in the formula corresponds to the old scale system.
