Abstract
The Human Computer Interface field has settled on the process of creating 
user profiles, personas, and scenarios to understand the requirements of 
users when developing software.  With the rapidly increasing rate of 
globalization, expanding in to new markets will require a shift in this 
process to account for cultural differences.  The history of HCI, 
globalization, and the new directions that interaction design are headed 
for will be discussed.  A prototype interface for a work in progress will 
also be demonstrated.
